Today, discussions about energy are an integral part of the media landscape. However, the energy issue is vast and complex. We need energy for just about everything. At the moment, fossil fuels are the main source of energy, which results in climate change. The transition to a sustainable energy supply is necessary and therefore the challenge for the future. The future, that is the students who are now at school. Awareness and knowledge are needed to make them warm and prepared for this.
During the energy week, consisting of 3 lessons of one hour, the children and young people are sensitized about the rational use of energy and what positive consequences their contribution can have on people and society. In a first hour we introduce them to concepts of energy and energy sources in an interactive way. In a second part, the students apply the knowledge from the first lesson in a practical way through an energy activity. We end the week with an energy game. This game takes the form of a quiz. The ultimate goal of this week is to get children and young people excited about helping with the transition to a sustainable society. A nomination as Energy Hero and a call to action to realize this both at school and at home is the message that is given to the children.
